User Authentication: Getting Access to Recognize

For a user to gain access to Recognize, it is a two step process:

  1. Users must first have their information added to Recognize by Company Admins, a process called User Provisioning.
  2. Once added, users may now sign in via one of several mechanisms: username/password, OAuth, or Single Sign On (SSO)

User & Password Login:

  1. Once a user's account is provisioned, user's must be emailed a unique link for them to set a password.
  2. After receiving an email invitation to join Recognize, they will be prompted to set a password and will automatically be signed in.
  3. For future sign ins, Select 'Sign In' on the top-right side menu and enter in the following fields:
    • Email (register email address - e.g. company email)
    • Password (newly created password)
  4. Select 'Go' and you should be directed to your Recognize user dashboard.
  5. Refer to the "Signing In" article for more details.

OAuth (Microsoft/Yammer/Google):

  1. OAuth is a technology that leverages a 3rd party account to sign in. This is a secure option as no passwords are shared in order to gain access to Recognize.
  2. If your company users Microsoft, Yammer, or Google, use this option to sign in to Recognize.
  3. From the homepage (www.recognizeapp.com), select 'Sign In' from the top and pick one of the third party options:
    • Microsoft
    • Yammer
    • Google
  4. Type-in your credentials and you should be directed to your Recognize user dashboard.
  5. Refer to the "Security Implications Re: Yammer or Third Party Integrations" article for more details.

Single Sign-On (SSO):

  1. SSO is the recommended mechanism for signing in as it leverages a single account provided by your company. It is the most secure and easiest way to gain access to Recognize. It requires prior configuration to set up. See our SSO Security Doc.
  2. When configuration is established for a company's users, they can successfully sign on via the Recognize homepage (www.recognizeapp.com).
  3. Select 'Sign In' on the top-right side menu and enter in the following fields:
    • Email (register email address - e.g. company email)
    • Password (newly created password)
  4. Select 'Go' and you should be directed to your Recognize user dashboard.
  5. Refer to the "Setting up single sign on (SSO) with Azure" or "Setting up single sign-on using Active Directory with ADFS and SAML" articles for more details.
